Kolam Quilts:
This new series is based on the daily devotional drawings done by the women of Tamil Nadu, in southern India.  Each day a new drawing is made in rice powder at the doorway of the home, invoking divine protection and blessing.  Most of these are based on the “pulli kolam” in which reference spots called “bindu” are visible.  The design objective continuous lines creating closed shapes and symmetry.  I saw these kolam on a visit to India in January 2008.  An exhibit of these pieces is on display at Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University Hospital during September 2008.
Each piece is about 26 x 30”.  Individual pieces may be available for sale.

The ongoing series is also available for exhibition  as a collection.

These projects were commissioned by clients with the express purpose of auctioning them to benefit a specific charity.
